BASIC GAME RULES
GENERAL
- Players must play on the names they have registered on the UHL site. This is for security reasons as well as making it easier for other players to report the game.
- All games must be played on 'Hockey,' with 6 players, to 10 points.
- Games should be passworded and the password distributed in the UGN-R channel
- The game creator may boot 'unwanted' people from playing BEFORE the game begins or AFTER the game ends but MAY NOT DO SO at any time during the game.
a. The password may not be given out to any non-UGN registered players and if a player who is not registered participates, the game will be considered null and void.
- All games MUST be team calculated (there is no need to put 'calc' in the game title).
- At no time should any player have more than one registered UGN username. If any player is found to have more than one registered username, they will be banned for no less than 20 days.
TEAM CALCULATED GAMES
a) Create a passworded UHL game, give the password to who you please and wait for the game to fill.
b) Once the game is full, the game creator should go to the Team Calculator and fill in the players present in the game lobby and calculate the teams ONCE. This should then give you unique URL for you to show the other players in the game.
c) Then post the unique URL in the game lobby before you start the game and wait for everyone to see the teams (you can also check recent team calced games HERE)
d) Start the game and switch to the colour that your team has the most of.
Any player who leaves (AND does not rejoin immediately) after the teams have been posted, will be treated the same way as a player who leaves after a random: a 2% point dock. Leaving because you "found out you couldn't play" is NOT an excuse, do not join if you can't play.
In the event a player leaves while the scores are 0-0 the teams should be re-calculated with any incoming sub.
The game creator may NOT create teams more than once for any one game, and unless you are the game creator you may not calculate any games (especially if you have not joined the game yet). See 'penalties' for more info.
PAUSES
- A player/team must be in possession of the ball in order to call a pause. When a player whose team is in possession of the ball calls a pause, play must stop immediately. In addition to this, fair warning must be given to all players before the game is unpaused; the host should check that all players are ready before unpausing. At no time should the host pause the game when their team is not in possession of the ball. Any goal scored on a breakaway when a player lags out or goes AFK is valid, but play must stop immediately after the goal and the ball respawned when everyone is ready. Use common courtesy here - if someone stops playing and no pause has been called and your team has no chance of scoring, show them some decency by stopping the game.
SUBBING
- If a player leaves the game, their team has 5 minutes to find a substitute player. If no sub is found within that time frame, the game may continue 2 vs 3 until a sub joins the game (this is entirely at the discretion of the team with 3 players), otherwise the game may be forfeited if the 2 player team chooses.
- If a player subs out and the scores of both teams added together is 5 or more, anyone who subs in to replace that player will not receive a loss if their team loses, the player who subbed out receives the loss; however, if their team wins, the player who subbed in will receive the win.
- If the scores of both teams added together is less than 5, any incoming sub will be responsible for the match result and will have the game reported in their name.
- If a player lags out and rejoins to find that another player has taken their place, they should be given their spot back if the disruption was brief (less than 5 minutes). If the player who lagged out was gone for between 5 and 10 minutes, their team or the sub may choose whether to re-admit them to the game, but if the player is absent for longer than 10 minutes they should not be allowed to re-enter the game.
- DO NOT JOIN GAMES IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO FINISH IT OR YOU THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE TO LEAVE. SUBBING SHOULD BE A LAST RESORT!
- In the interest of fair play, any incoming sub MUST satisfy at least one of the following criteria:
a) They are within 35 ranks of the player that left the game.
b) They are within 35 life-time points of the player that left the game.
c) Both the player that left the game and the incoming sub are below rank 300.
- It is the responsibility of both teams to check that any incoming sub satisfies at least one of the above criteria. Players should use the bot to check if a sub is legal or not. If a sub of this nature cannot be found within 5 minutes, the team with 3 players is entitled to continue the game at their own discretion, but they may choose to wait longer for a sub to be found.
- In addition to this, an incoming sub who is below the rank of the player they are subbing may sub if ALL players in the game agree. To state they agree with the sub, each player must type "I agree with -playername-" where -playername- is the name of the incoming sub. This will be reviewed in the game logs after the game if required. If not all players agreed to the sub the game will be voided. Any attempt to bully players into allowing someone to sub will result in a ban.
- Any disputes on this matter will be settled by a ref.
CONFIRMING GAMES
- Players from each team must confirm the match immediately after it is played.
- The game will be processed once 2 players from each team confirm the game.
- If at least 2 players from one team (or both teams) have not confirmed the game within 10 minutes of it finishing, any players on the team who do not have at least 2 reports will be penalised (as shown below). Therefore all players are encouraged to confirm all games regardless of who else has confirmed; don't be lazy!
PENALTIES
- Non confirming: first offense is a warning, second offense is a 1 day ban, third offense is a 3 day ban.
- Any player who leaves a game before it has finished for ANY reason will be docked 2% of their total seasonal and life-time scores for each time they leave a game. If a player leaves an unfinished game 3 or more times in a season, they will be banned for 1 day on the first offense, 2 days on the second offense, etc.
- Any game creator who calculates a team more than once for any game, anyone who calculates a game when they are not the game creator, or anyone who calculates a game for any reason other than it being the first teamcalc as the host of a game, will first receive a warning, then a 3 day ban for any offenses after the warning.
- Any excessive unsporting behaviour in games or in the UGN-R channel will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, excessive trash talking, excessive swearing, racism of any kind, or having a bad attitude towards other players. The term "excessive" is defined entirely at the discretion of the UGN staff.
- Punishments for breaking rules will be entirely at the discretion of the UHL reffing staff.
NOTES
- Ignorance of these rules is not an excuse.
